Standard kayaks

Standard kayaks are easy and stable, most suitable for beginners. All the kayaks in our fleet have waterproof hatches and space for gear to be taken with on the trip. With a standard kayak, you can also go on an overnight tour. If you are taking up kayaking for the first time, we recommend a standard kayak.

Touring and Sea Kayaks

There are touring and sea kayaks of different shapes and sizes in our rental fleet. Some of these kayaks are still easy and stable to handle, but allow more adjusting and have a more comfortable seat than the standard kayak. This category also includes kayaks, which are suitable for longer tours. Some of these models have a skeg, which, when used correctly, helps control the kayak in windy conditions.

Sea Kayaks Advanced

These sea kayaks are designed for longer expeditions and for demanding weather conditions. They have more storage space and are longer and more narrow. All our advanced sea kayaks have a rudder. We recommend these models only for experienced kayakers.

Double Kayaks Standard

Just like the standard single kayak, the doubles are easy to handle, definitely suitable for beginners. They are wider and more stable than single kayaks. Of course, for handling a double kayak, co-operation skills and ability to work together between the two paddlers will be required. With two people paddling the double kayaks are usually a bit faster than standard single kayaks.

The double kayak is also a good option, when you want to go on a paddling trip with a child. The adult can sit in the back and take care of the heading and the child can enjoy the ride. As the water will hit the person sitting in front, we recommend waterproof clothing for the child. We have also personal floating devices for children available.

Double Kayaks Sea

These double kayaks are designed for longer trips. They have more space for your gear than the standard doubles. They also have a rudder for easier control in windy conditions. Going on your first overnight trip the double kayak is a safe option. It is fast and very stable – an enjoyable kayak for two.

All kayak rentals also include spray skirts, paddles and personal flotation devices (pfd).

Open canoes

The open canoe is most suitable for river trips and sheltered waters. On the sea we recommend it only on calm days, since the open canoe will be hard to handle in windy conditions. On windy days we suggest you choose a kayak for your paddling trip. Open canoes are paddled with a single-blade paddle and they have a lot of room for your gear.

All open canoe rentals also include canoe paddles, pfd and bailer.

We also offer open canoes for rent in our Nuuksio Hawk Nest resort. The Nuuksio Hawk Lake, being a smallish and sheltered forest lake, is ideal for open canoe paddling.

SUP-boards

Stand Up Paddling is a fun and a trendy water sport activity! Rent a board and explore the beauty of the Helsinki archipelago. The Iso Kallahti bay, on which shore the Paddling Center is located, is an epic surrounding for your SUP session. We have quality gear to make your SUP experience great!

All SUP board rentals also include paddle, leash ja pfd. There are also SUP boards available for rent at our Nuuksio Hawk Nest resort.

Fatbikes

Riding a Fatbike makes cycling fun! The big tires make this bike easy to drive on dirt roads and single tracks, also on snow and mud, along the coast of the Gulf of Finland! All our Fatbikes come equipped with multiple gears. Try it out – The Vuosaari district is filled to the brim with mind-blowing nature sites and points of interest.

All Fatbike rentals also include a helmet. There are also Fatbikes available for rent at our Nuuksio Hawk Nest resort.

Rowing boat

A tour in the Helsinki archipelago is a unique experience with a traditional rowing boat. Enjoy the Finnish summer in a relaxed way, pack a picnic basket and head on to one of the City-of-Helsinki-maintenanced recreational islands. Oars in the water and let’s go!

All rowing boat rentals also include oars, pfd and bailer. There are also rental rowing boats available in the Nuuksio Hawk Nest resort.

Overnight self-guided trips

Want to go on an overnight paddling trip by yourself? We offer various additional equipment for rent – maps, tents, gas heaters, as well as GPS trackers and sleeping bags. Please note, that prior experience in kayaking is required for all overnight trips.

Series cards and season passes

For the avid paddler, the right card or pass will make kayaking cheap and easy! You can choose a personal card or from various family cards or corporate cards. Buy your card online!

Paddling routes

There is an endless amount of superb paddling routes starting from the Vuosaari Paddling Center. The Gulf of Finland is one of the supreme paddling locations in the world and the routes start just outside the city center of Helsinki. Kayaking here is fun and relaxing. To everyone renting kayaks from us, we will give you a map of the area and suggest the best routes. There are numerous recreational islands nearby for nice resting breaks.

For those wanting to stay overnight on the islands, we offer self-guided paddling trips where we provide you with all the camping equipment. For planning multi-day self-guided kayaking trips, you may find the Helsinki-Porvoo Sea Kayaking route map helpful. We are also happy to give you advice about routes!
