Holma-Saarijärvi is a wonderful lake in the Nuuksio National Park. Take a break on its shores, start your hike at Hawk Nest. Coffee and maps to go!
There are two campfire sites at the Holma-Saarijärvi, a crystal clear forest lake, many say one of the most beautiful lakes around in the Nuuksio National Park. It is a nice hiking destination and also a great swimming location. This tranquil lake is situated some two kilometers from Hawk Nest.
One of the key hiking trails in the area, the Korpinkierros trail leads from Hawk Nest to Holma-Saarijärvi. One of the campfire sites is located on the western lakeshore and the other on a small island on the lake.
There’s an unmarked trail circling the lake, from which you will be able to find your way to the bridge leading on the island. You're best off turning south on the trail before arriving at the lake in order to locate the bridge. There’s also a traditional wanderer’s hut, located just beside the bridge.
There’s also an outhouse and a popular, free-of-charge camping site at Holma-Saarijärvi.
